Upstart will premier TWO of its productions on Sunday, the 27th of April at 5 pm. Both were filmed in Bastrop, the short film capital of Texas. Come celebrate the production of these two shorts with us and see what Upstart has to offer you. We'll show --

1) THE SEA CAPTAIN, a haunting story of love that reaches from past to present. Starring Ronnie Masterson and Sergio Cantu and directed by Conor McAnally, this script by Austin's Steve Warren was selected from dozens entered in the Upstart short film competition. It was made right here in Bastrop.

and

   2) NEW ORLEANS NEW YEAR, a Jessica Gardner documentary. Last December, the city of Bastrop flew in some of the folks who have been keeping New Orleans culture alive at home in New Orleans and all over the world.  The Treme Brass Band, The Black Men of Labor Steppers, and The Yellow Pocahontas Mardi Gras Indian Tribe graced our streets with some of the music, dance and pageantry that have helped pass down African American history for centuries.  See excerpts from this fabulous performance while internationally renowned artists tell us why they work so hard to breathe life into the past and hand it down to future generations.
