What's on BCAT-TV?

December 19, 2007

Upstart’s Director of Operations, Jessica Gardner, reports
a variety of new shows airing on Bastrop Community Access
Television, or BCAT, as it’s affectionately known.

1. There’s the Bastrop Historical Society meeting with Dr.
Alwyn Barr, who spoke on the little-known subject of
African-Americans in the Republic of Texas This was the
first meeting held in the newly renovated Kerr Community
Center, too, so you’ll get a sneak peak at its interior.
This airs Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 5 p.m.

2. Gardeners will enjoy a show on “Organic Composting,” a
presentation by Jay Mertz filmed at Bastrop Gardens. This
airs Monday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

3. Some of the same viewers will enjoy the next two
entries: “Jeff Long’s Third Annual Butterfly Festival.”
Tune in Fridays at 1 pm or Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
at 8:30 a.m. for this show.

4. There’s also a presentation by Texas Parks and Wildlife
showing. This features a number of speeches made at Bastrop
Gardens on various ecological issues. It airs Wednesdays at
7 p.m.

Upstart is working to get BCAT online so that even those
who are not able to get Time Warner channel 10 can watch
Bastrop’s fun station. We’re getting closer to that goal
every day.

Meanwhile, you can view the BCAT schedule online. Call
Jessica Gardner with any suggestions or comments at
321.2496 or to find out how you can get involved in making
television or short movies using our equipment.
