WORKSHOP: Story to Script

Upstart announces that Bonnie Orr will teach a one-day
workshop in adaptation. Entitled "Story to Script," this
workshop will show you what to keep, what to expand, and
what to eliminate when changing a short story (or novel)
into something that can be filmed. As part of the workshop,
we'll show two videos that were made from William Browning
Spencer's "Pep Talk," and you'll have a chance to compare
them to the original story.
The workshop will be held in Bastrop at the Upstart Media
Arts Center(UMAC), 1800 Linda Street. To get to the UMAC
from Austin, come east on 71 to Highway 95 North. Turn left
on 95, go through big intersection at Chestnut, then watch
on your left for CYPRESS Street. Turn left at Cypress and
UMAC will be on your right almost immediately. There's a

Cost is $75, which includes lunch. Workshop will be
Saturday February 17
from 10 am to 4 pm. Register early because attendance is
limited.
