Upstart gets nod for three

All of Upstart's 2006 productions have been selected for
the Seguin Film Festival to be held in downtown Seguin
October 27-29! These include "Prank Call," directed by
Michael Waxman, "Nowhere Man," directed by Sidney Brammer,
and "Dead On," directed by Carolyn Banks. The festival
hasn't announced screening times yet, but you can check
their web site at
http://www.seguinfestival.org/films/default.asp

"Our aim is to make Bastrop the short film capital of
Texas," says Upstart Executive Director Carolyn Banks. "You
can see that we're on the way to doing just that." The
three short movies were shot in
Bastrop. Donald Banks of Elgin was director of photography
for "Nowhere Man." Austinites Todd McMullen and Jeff
Hartman did photography for "Prank Call" and "Dead On."

Upstart, a nonprofit media arts outreach organization in
Bastrop, offers a variety of inexpensive courses in
scripting, storyboarding, preproduction, production and
postproduction. The Upstart Media Arts Center (UMAC) offers
its producers a library, equipment and facilities
for writing, shooting and editing. Check
http://www.UpstartInc.org for the latest offerings. Many of
its course offerings have been supported by Texas
Commission on the Arts.
